Receptionist / Instructor

Born in Queens NY, Diana began dancing at the age of 2 and became instantly attached to this form of expression. Dance became a way for her to understand herself and the environment around her. Growing up she studied and performed ballet, contemporary, jazz, and tap with several studios in NYC. Over time, she fell in love with Hip Hop, Heels, Lyrical, Voguing, and Latin Dance (Salsa on 1 and 2, Cha Cha, Bachata) and began training with The Solettes, a NYC performance team. The Solettes performed at festivals and venues throughout NYC, New Jersey, and New England. She has danced with various entities including, Salsa Congress NYC, Flash Mob America, Queensboro Dance Festival, and NYC Dance Parade. Before leaving NY, Diana joined Veganation, a collective of women spreading awareness about animal cruelty and compassion through various art forms. Veganation has preformed at National Animal Rights Day and various Animal Rights Marches in NYC and South Florida.

Throughout this journey, Diana found happiness in sharing her dance passions with youth. She loves to use dance as a way of youth expression and empowerment. In NYC she became a youth mentor and teacher, instructing for over 10 years, using dance as a fun outlet for youth to learn and grow.

In more recent years, Diana has developed a passion for Yoga, Aerial, GoGo and Burlesque. She moved to South Florida, where she trained in yoga, instructed youth, and performed at party venues. Currently, she lives in Nevada and is working/training with Pole Ftiness Studio in pole and various aerial styles. Diana’s goal is to become a lyra beast.

What is your proudest teaching moment?

When you realize you have become more than just an instructor and you’ve influenced a persons’ life in a positive way. Dance can give a being so much strength and awareness and as an instructor, it’s amazing to be a part of that discovery process.

What pole move(s) are your favorite?
I am still developing and learning the skill, but so far I love anything to do with being upside down and I’m digging the superman.

Why do you enjoy working at Pole Fitness Studio?
From the moment I took my first class, I knew I wanted to be a part of the Pole Fitness Community. You cannot check in for class or take a class without speaking with a funny, strong, crazy woman! I admire these women and I want to learn from them.

Tara Starr

Levels 1-4

TV Host and Pageant queen Tara Starr was born in Palo Alto, CA, and raised in the beautiful city of Manila, Philippines. A Vegas resident since August 2011, she discovered the art of pole through Cirque du Soleil’s “Michael Jackson: Immortal” show. “I saw that girl on the pole and asked myself: “What the hell am I doing with my life?”

Certified in Pole Levels 1 - 4 under Fawnia’s Pole Dance Instructor Certification Program (PDIC), Tara has an extensive background in performing arts and modern dance. Taking Fawnia’s program was a once-in-a-lifetime experience that proved highly educational and essential in teaching her all there is to know about the proper form, techniques, and safety measures involved in sharing her love of pole.

Tara’s strength as an instructor lies in her enthusiasm and flexibility. Currently competing for the Miss Nevada United States 2013 state title, Tara Starr a.k.a. Miss Paradise 2013’s platform is to encourage a healthy self-esteem and self-confidence amongst our youth. She translates this philosophy into her teaching style. Tara’s main goal as an instructor is to help her students with their self-esteem and confidence, encouraging them to let out the inner diva that lies in each and every one of us.

What is your proudest teaching or performing moment?
“In terms of pole? I would have to say that my proudest moment was this one time when I randomly worked the pole at XS while clubbing and these guys threw 5 dollar bills at me. I felt like a legitimate pole dancer then. Hahaha! Like, “Gee, Thanks! You guys really appreciate me!”

What pole move(s) are your favorite?
“Hmm...sounds like a hard one but I would have to say anything that involves doing the splits---pyramid, drop splits from the top of the pole, anything that requires me to spread it. Hahaha! Kidding. Oh and the pinwheel because it’s pretty, and Superman because flying is fun!!!”

Why do you enjoy teaching at Pole Fitness Studio?
“Apart from the fact that everyone at PFS is like family to me, I enjoy inspiring people to let go of whatever hang-ups they may have about themselves and their bodies, and teaching them to love and accept themselves for the infinite beings that they truly are :)”
