Why Pole Dancing is the Workout You've Been Waiting For

In a recent appearance on The Morning Blend, Fawnia Mondey — the world’s first pole dancing instructor and owner of Pole Fitness Studio in Las Vegas — shared how pole dancing is transforming lives far beyond the studio.

A Journey That Started with Curiosity

Fawnia's journey began 31 years ago in Canada, when she was inspired by the strength and grace of dancers at a gentlemen’s club. Shocked to learn there were no pole dancing schools at the time, she set out to change that. Now, her legacy lives on through Pole Fitness Studio, where students of all ages and fitness levels are welcome.

“Everyone, all ages, all fitness levels — and we’re co-ed,” Fawnia emphasized.

It's More Than a Workout — It's a Confidence Revolution

From her foundational Level 1 classes (where students don’t even need to leave the ground) to advanced routines, Fawnia has seen firsthand how pole dancing helps people become stronger — physically and emotionally.

“My favorite part about being a pole dancing teacher is watching people become happier versions of themselves,” she shared.

One student, Noemi, echoed that sentiment during a live demo on the show. She spoke about how pole dancing has boosted her self-confidence and motivation, saying she feels empowered just by being surrounded by strong, supportive people.

Classes for Everyone — Including You

Beyond pole dancing, the studio also offers:

  • Belly Dance

  • Hip Hop

  • Yoga

  • Burlesque

  • Full Body Fitness

  • Aerial classes like Silks, Lyra, and Hammock (a studio favorite!)

Fawnia reminded viewers that it’s never too late to start: “My aunt started at 70, and last time I was on the show, someone called in who was 82!”

Community, Charity & Connection

Pole Fitness Studio also hosts biannual clothing swaps to benefit Safe Nest and Project 150, and recitals supporting Wendy’s Ranch and Rescue, an animal sanctuary near Las Vegas. It’s part of what makes this space more than just a gym — it's a movement.

“You might think you’re coming for a fun workout, but you leave with a whole community of friends.”
